The Exhibitor’s Guide to Tension Fabric Displays
“Tension fabric” covers more displays than most people realize. Technically, any display with a printed fabric graphic stretched tight over a frame is a tension fabric display. This guide explains the three main styles, which product lines fall under each and how to pick the right one for your booth.
✓Wrinkle-Resistant Fabric Tension pulls it smooth
✓Refresh the Graphic Keep the frame, swap the print
✓No Credit Card Fees Simple, honest checkout
The BasicsWhat Is a Tension Fabric Display?
A tension fabric display is a lightweight frame covered by a dye-sublimated fabric graphic that is pulled tight. The tension is what makes the graphic smooth and wrinkle-free, with no seams or panels breaking up your message. Because the fabric is light and folds small, these displays are easier to ship and set up than hard-panel exhibits.
The term is used two ways. Most people mean the zip-up “pillowcase” style, where the graphic slides over an aluminum frame and zips closed. Technically, though, any fabric display under tension qualifies, including fabric pop-ups and SEG frames. That’s why some lines, such as OneFabric, appear in more than one category on our site.
Side by Side The Three Tension Fabric Styles
The biggest difference between tension fabric displays is how the fabric attaches to the frame.

Choose a Fabric Pop-Up if…Speed matters most. The graphic can stay on the frame, so setup takes minutes. OneFabric kits include lights and a counter case.
Choose SEG if…You want crisp, frameless edges, a backlit light box or a modular booth you can reconfigure. Start with BrightLine or Vector Frame.

Keep It FreshReplace the Graphic, Keep the Frame
One of the biggest advantages of tension fabric is that the frame lasts for years while the graphic can change. When your branding, product or show changes, order a new printed graphic and reuse your hardware. See tension fabric replacement graphics.

Good to Know Tension Fabric Display FAQs
What is a tension fabric display?A lightweight frame covered by a printed fabric graphic that is pulled tight. The tension keeps the graphic smooth and wrinkle-free. Technically, any fabric display under tension qualifies, including pillowcase, fabric pop-up and SEG displays.
What is a pillowcase display? The most common style of tension fabric display. The printed graphic slides over an aluminum tube frame and zips closed at the base, like a pillowcase. Waveline, Bombora and Formulate use this style.
What’s the difference between tension fabric and SEG?SEG is a type of tension fabric. Instead of zipping over the frame, an SEG graphic has a silicone edge that pushes into a channel in an aluminum frame, which gives it crisper, flatter edges.
Is OneFabric a pop-up or a tension fabric display? Both. OneFabric uses a collapsible pop-up frame with a fabric graphic held under tension, so it appears in both categories on our site.
Can tension fabric displays be backlit?Yes. WaveLight is a backlit pillowcase-style light box, and SEG lines like BrightLine and Vector Frame offer backlit light boxes.
Can I replace just the graphic?Yes. Order a new printed graphic for your existing frame and reuse the hardware.
How long does it take to get a tension fabric display? For most products, plan on 10–12 business days from the time we receive print-ready art until delivery. The “Delivery Date Needed” field at checkout shows your first available date.
